For those participants that still report out L/S ratios and PG for fetal
lung maturity testing, I am curious if you attach any interpretive comments
and if so, what they might be.
At my institution, we attach the following comments
L/S 1.9 or less Probability of RDS increased
L/S 2.0 - 2.4 and PG absent Probability of RDS equivocal
L/S 2.0 - 2.4 and PG present Probability of RDS low
L/S >=2.5 and PG absent Probability of RDS low
(In poorly controlled diabetic, the presence of PG is required to have a
very low probability of RDS)
L/S >=2.5 and PG present Probability of RDS very low
(I don't know the source of these comments as they preceded by arrival by
several years and their origin is lost to antiquity)
Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions
