The Churches Conservation Trust is a major heritage body with an unique
responsibility to Parliament and to the Church of England for the care and
custody of 325 churches which are open to the public. As well as securing
their physical well being, the Trust is committed to conveying their
importance to this and future generations and, in a joint arrangement with
English Heritage, to promote them as a national education resource. The
post of Education Officer aims to develop the education service for schools
and to promote lifelong learning.
Currently based at the Trust's office in London but with considerable
travel, the post holder will be managed by the Trust's Director but will
initially receive technical direction from the Head of Education at English
Heritage.
The post holder will be responsible for all education projects at Trust
churches, for the provision of publications and other resources for
teachers, and for developing and maintaining the authority of the Trust in
relation to education. Applicants should have a degree in a relevant
discipline and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience. They should be
able to demonstrate previous experience in developing the educational use
and potential of historic buildings. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills are essential as are self motivation and the ability
to think creatively and strategically. Applicants should be computer
literate and have a clean driving licence.
Starting salary c. £25,000 including Recruitment and Retention. The Trust
participates in the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme.
