Dear Jo
Some of my clients have found that relaxation/visualisation helps, but
in order to be able to "switch it on" they need to practise. I am very
interested in the use of visual imagery in pain control and have also
offered it, to good effect, for panic attacks.
From my clients' accounts, they experience more mastery once they notice
the triggers for the attacks - so often these appear to come out of the
blue but on closer examination there are bodily, as well as
psychological/emotional precursors which can alert them and help the
visualisation/relaxation swing into action.
Good luck
Sue
