Sarah,
just as a point of clarification (although you may well already know
this), the Inquisition with a capital "I" was not created until
*after* the Albigensian crusade. The inquisition (with a little "i")
that followed the crusade was an episcopal investigation, initially
under the guidance of a legate and the bishop of Toulouse. It was
only after that bishop's death that the Inquisition became an
institution, answerable to the pope only, and placed under the
administration of the Dominicans.
A wonderful primary source on these Dominicans and their
heretic-hunts is Pelhisson's chronicle, which I believe was
translated in an appendix to Hamilton's The Albigensian Crusade
(although perhaps it is in another appendix... it had been edited in
French by Duvernoy).
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
