Are you responsible for developing the enquiry handling skills of staff?
Then you may benefit from attending:
Training for the effective enquiry service
A one day Library Association workshop on 22 May, in London
Handling enquiries effectively can be said to be the most significant
activity of any high quality information service. This means that it has to
rely on well-trained staff. That is, staff who are familiar with a wide
range of sources, who maintain and develop their analytical skills and who
can communicate effectively with the people who use, or may use, the
services.
The training needs that are implied are many and each organisation will want
to tailor training to the resources and demands of their particular
circumstances.
Benefits from attending
This event sets out to guide and support SENIOR staff who may already have,
or could in the future have, responsibility for developing skills of
colleagues. It will provide a structured approach to defining continuing
training needs, input on how to train, and will include a focus on the
unique issues involved in accountability of services in the information age.
Those who attend should expect to return to their workplace able to create
and manage learning opportunities capable of improving standards of service.
By the end of the event participants will have:
* analysed the core training needs related to
* enquiry handling
* recognised different learning styles
* considered a range of appropriate learning
* opportunities
* identified elements in a training plan for the
workplace
