Develop your skills in handling difficult staff or aggressive behaviour,
giving and receiving feedback and resolving conflict in:
Assertiveness for managers
7 June, London
Today's working environment, with its shift towards flatter structures,
performance management, employability and different relationships is putting
an increasing emphasis on the personal credibility of individual managers.
Expected to work well with a wide range of people, today's library and
information managers undertake a broad range of problems and tasks. The
successful management of this complexity requires a 'toolkit' of techniques,
which are appropriate to an ever-increasing range of people and
circumstances.
Benefits from attending
Participants will reflect on their approach and rebuild their confidence in
order to feel truly effective. They will be encouraged to assess their
behaviour in a confidential environment and be introduced to a range of
techniques and explore how they can be used in a variety of circumstances.
By the end of the event participants will have:
* explored the use of assertiveness in helping them to feel more
confident in their changing role
* assessed their own behaviour in a variety of circumstances
* considered practical techniques for motivating staff, delegating an
unpleasant task, handling difficult colleagues and customers, dealing with
bullying and aggressive behaviour, and resolving conflict
* exchanged ideas and approaches in a supportive and confidential
environment
