In North East Lincolnshire as a result of our Best Value Review and in
preparation for the implementation of National Standards, we have developed
a system for monitoring the supply times for all our requests. It has
become apparent that in some libraries that have been successful in
promoting new fiction titles in advance of publication dates; the resulting
delay in satisfying the requests has had a significant effect on meeting %
supplied targets for 7, 15 and 30 days.
As people placing requests in advance of publication, only begin to
anticipate the supply of their request after the date of publication, it
seems obvious to measure from publication date in these instances.
I would be interested to here whether any other authority has consider the
problem, either in relation to the proposed National Standard, or in their
own monitoring procedure?
