Do you find public speaking daunting? Then why not attend:
Presentation skills
A one day Library Association workshop on 30 January, London
Whether promoting a library, trying to get resources, or introducing
policies to staff, good presentation can help to achieve a desired outcome
whilst poor presentation can reduce the impact of even the most well thought
out argument. Getting ideas across to users or committees requires
attention to presentation skills. Knowing some of the most persuasive words
in the language may be useful, but it takes much more than words to make a
real impact.
Benefits from attending
This workshop is intended to encourage awareness of what makes a good
presentation and offers the opportunity to practise key skills in an
informal, friendly and supportive atmosphere.
By the end of the event participants will have:
* explored why it is necessary to develop their presentation skills
* the ability to recognise bad presentation and analyse its causes
* looked at how to assess the needs of an audience
* examined the key features of good presentation
* practised some presentation skills
Who will benefit from attending
This event is perfect for anyone who has to present a case to Councillors,
Directors or Principals, or those who would like to ensure that they create
a good impression when speaking to colleagues.
Special notes
During this event participants will have to prepare and present a session
that will be filmed using a video camera to help assess their performance.
