Sat next to Viv Parry at an Institute 'do' last week - she's disappointed that no-one has sent her any possible stories following her talk at last year's STEMPRA AGM. We're now trying to set up a meeting in March with Mike Hanlon (ex Express, now Mail) - wonder if that will result in a flurry of stories? We've got to have the courage of our convictions and get out there and communicate!

Couldn't agree more. The lesson from Science and Society
and the Wellcome/OST work is that we need to target the
tabloids, particularly the Daily Mail, apparently. That's difficult
enough, but writing for the red tops is even harder!
I seem to remember some PUS/PEST types sniggering at
the idea that News of the World had a science correspondent
and that STEMPRA would actually invite her (the estimable
Vivienne Parry who, I would suggest, definitely does not
deserve any prefix like 'La') to speak at last year's AGM.
