A further book on this subject is Hitting the Headlines by White, Evans,
Mihill and Tysoe, published by BPS Books.....it was specifically written
for the 'science' market... the ISBN is: 1 85433 107 8.

Dear Jake and others

We hold a copy of Michael Shortland's and Jane Gregory's book in the
Wellcome Trust Information Service. Unfortunately, it's our only copy.
You ask about other guides in communicating research to the media and
the
public. I've checked the Information Service's catalogue and have
included
some references at the end of this message (after my signature). You
can
search the catalogue yourself at http://library.wellcome.ac.uk/.
You might also like to check the psci-com web site which is a web
gateway
to internet resources on science communication and public engagement
with
science. The home page is at http://psci-com.org.uk and a browseable
list
of practical guides on communicating science can be found at
http://psci-com.org.uk/browse/ypages/302.068.html.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Louise
