I sadly didn't get to this event, the first BA Annual Festival I've missed
for some years. I love them.
At future events I'd also welcome a single, well advertised,
comfortable, fairly central, lounge area, with refreshments, notice-boards
(and maybe a couple of conversation-piece exhibits.). It would
crucially enhance networking. It's been great to meet really interesting
people at breakfast, or at receptions I've managed to gate-crash! It can
also feel frustratingly bleak when you fail to bump into anyone you know,
and there's no cosy central zone. More than once I've felt a deeper sympathy
for the high student suicide rate in these environments!
However, I think it must be very difficult for the organisers to manage this
event at a different venue each year.
With regard to schoolchildren failing to show up, that is simply due
to the traditional timing of the event, at the worst possible date in the
school calendar.
