This is in reply to Michael Kenward's query about whether courses in
science communication are vocational. As an expatriate Pom living in
Australia, I watch this list (which I find one of the more
interesting ones) without being often moved to reply. However, I
feel Michael's question needs an answer. The Graduate Diploma and
Masters courses run by this Centre are definitely vocational. The
evidence? We have had almost 200 graduate since 1988 of whom about
70% are in positions in 'the science communication industry'. If
anyone would like a more detailed breakdown I will send them a table
without bothering the rest of you.
