Subject: Genespin thankyou
Sorry, for the delay in thanking the group for its
advice with my enquiry into companies promoting
biological sciences. It was much appreciated and
helped me pin down some points of interest. I'm
currently in America (no resources, thus the dumb
enquiry) developing ideas for a magazine that my
business partner and myself want to set up on my
return to the UK, in late July. The business name is
"Genespin". Genespin.com and Genespin.co.uk have been
acquired, but not set up. What we intend to do is
alter the way in which science is communicated by
concentrating less on the provision of direct
scientific information/developments, and more on the
local and global issues in science affecting everyday
life in a positive and accessible way to the sections
of the public least interested in the current
scientific information provision (highlighted in the
demographics published in the Wellcome report on the
public's perception of science). We will do this by
making science more 'fashionable' and 'sexy' by the
publication of a popular magazine and presenting
science in a positive way and showing how the
scientific issues and products affect all of us
in our normal daily lives.
As I work through the lens of practicality, I realise
that we have to tie down the objectives and
concentrate on particular key markets, and have a long
way to getting this project to fly. I hope we can
count on the advice and direction of the group as we
pull closer to solidifying the exact path we wish to
tread with this project.
Once again thanks.
