Research Studentships in Science and Technology Studies

Applications are invited for one or two Research Studentships in the general
area of Science and Technology Studies, tenable from 1st October 2001 for a
period of three years, to work under the supervision of Professor Steve
Woolgar.
Applicants will have experience and/or interests in any area of the social
dimensions of science and technology. The Said Business School includes
major research interests in this area such as social impact of new
electronic technologies, public understanding of science, science
communication, technology related change in Universities, interactive social
science, implications of science studies for social theory. It is currently
home to the ESRC Virtual Society? programme.
The studentships are to the value of full time home/EU (or overseas) fees
plus a stipend towards living costs. Successful applicants will normally
already have some research training (to Masters level) and will register for
a DPhil degree. However, in exceptional circumstances, they may be admitted
to follow the MSc in Management Research in the first instance. The
studentship includes opportunities for some teaching and research
assistance.
