We are currently looking to fill the following post at UCL Museums &
Collections:
Education & Access Officer (Salary £19,585, incl London allowance)
UCL Museums and Collections comprise four registered museums, including the
Designated Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, and ten departmental
collections. We wish to appoint an education and access officer to use the
collections to undertake outreach work with schools and colleges in some of
the London boroughs participating in the government's 'Excellence in
Cities' initiative, and to develop educational services on campus. The post
forms part of UCL's Widening Participation Strategy, which is aimed at
introducing a wider social mix of pupils to the prospect of higher
education in general, and UCL in particular. University collections are a
user-friendly way of achieving this, and this post represents a chance to
participate in a new way of thinking about their role.
The post is available for three years in the first instance. We are looking
for someone with experience of working in museum or gallery education or a
similar environment, who is able to take responsibility for developing an
innovative approach to using our collections.
