The SWMC Museum Learning Initiative website includes a list of publications
and web resources at
http://www.swmuseums.httpmedia.co.uk/development_programmes/MLI/access.htm
but it may be a little out of date now.
There is a bibliography in Jocelyn Dodd and Richard Sandell's recent (and
essential!)publication 'Including Museums' (RCMG, Leicester).

Subject: request for thoughts
Hello,
Does anyone have an up-to-date list of publications relating to museums &
education, access & social inclusion? I have one from MGC (Feb 1999) - has
anyone got one which includes all the relevant stuff since then?
Also, we have produced some guidance for museums, archives and libraries
working with community groups (as a result of a presentation at N. Ireland
Museums Council). This brings together the various recommendations from ten
recent museum, library and lifelong learning publications - it is available
to
anyone - please reply off-list - it's about 10 pages.
Also, also, I have been asked to join a discussion in the North East on the
'Culture of Lifelong Learning' - particularly looking at ways to engage &
enthuse people not at present engaged or enthused by learning, perhaps by
using
high-profile media stars or offering incentives. Generally the group is
being
asked to talk to learners & non-learners & to think sideways about
encouraging
people to look at learning opportunities in the neighbourhood - With
museums,
archives and libraries in mind, as well as the wider cultural sector, any
thoughts from you? Have you tried anything that's been a great success in
getting new learners in? What do we avoid? Are there any solutions ? Answers
on
the side of a large building to......
