Positive Action Traineeship
We are offering a two year traineeship to an individual from the Asian or
African Caribbean communities who are currently under-represented in our
workforce, based at the Royal Museum, Chambers Street, Edinburgh. Salary on
appointment will be between £12,823 and £15,607 (pro rata to 3 days per
week) depending on qualifications and experience.
You will join the NMS Education team on a part time basis, to help develop
and deliver aspects of the NMS Social Justice Action Plan. In addition, you
will be assisted to undertake the MA in Museum Studies, at the University of
Newcastle Upon Tyne, on a part time basis over two years. You will be
expected to commence work/studies in September 2001. You will have: an
understanding of and interest in the role and function of museums; a degree
or equivalent qualification; a commitment to social justice/access issues;
effective communication and team working skills; the ability to research and
work within an academic discipline.
