Just wanted to recommend the following if you are seeking inspiration for
new art/craft workshops in a museum/gallery/school context, which could be
appropriate for a wide range of audiences, or fancy a weekend of
professional development or jaunt in the idyll of the Lake District.
Dianne Standen is a textile artist and freelance community education worker
who offers weekend residential courses in her Grade II listed Georgian house
overlooking the Solway Firth. Some of her work is available to view at

people with the skills to deliver workshops in these areas. The programme is
negotiable and can feature the following:
1) Feltmaking-Basics & Surface Design
2) 3D & Cobweb Felt
3) Silk papermaking for incorporation into paper or felt
4) Papermaking
5) Spinning-Wool preparation & introduction to the wheel
6) Dyeing-Natural/Chemical (Wool & Silk)
7) Rag rugs-Proddy, hooked
8) Recycling Rags-Locker hooking, Knitting and crochet-Bags & Cushions
Cost per course is £90.00 (workshops and full board). Minimum number per
course is 2 people, maximum 4. Book as a group of 3 or 4 and obtain a £10.00
reduction per person Material charges: £5.00 per weekend. Available
September to April.
