INTERACTING WITH PEOPLE'S HISTORY
The Pump House People's History Museum in Manchester is developing an
exciting new programme of Living History for family visitors to our museum.
We want to produce four, thirty-minute performances that stimulate
visitors' curiosity and interest and engage them emotionally
as well as intellectually. (This project runs until March 2002 and, whilst
we are happy to negotiate a timetable, we do require at least one completed
performance by June 2001)
For this project we require:
SCRIPTWRITERS - Up to £1,250 for each script
We are looking for creative individuals to research and produce scripts.
Experience of script development is essential as is an understanding of the
role of theatre in a museum environment.
The characters and themes are:
Thomas Paine, 18th century radical
Democracy - 19th century trade union official
Co-Operation - Hannah Mitchell, 20th century suffragette
Citizenship - Asian female, 1950's migrant to Britain Equality of
opportunity
DIRECTOR - FEE £2,500
A supportive and experienced director is required to help the producer in
the recruitment of actors and to then rehearse them in scripts. Using your
directorial skills, you will exploit the full dramatic potential, employing
various relevant techniques. We are happy to recruit individuals or teams
for this project.
