Dear North West Colleagues
The staff here at Astley Hall are very keen to progress from third to first
person interpretation when conducting costumed educational guided tours (the
Tudors, Victorians and Local History)
Would anyone be willing to allow us to visit so we can see how roleplay is
done at other venues. It would be myself and 2 other staff who would visit
- we could just perhaps tag along on the back of a tour. I would prefere to
look at a Tudor roleplay if possible - and we wouldn't mind getting involved
if you needed a hand.
I am looking to gain some funding for a training day too - if anyone is
interested perhaps we could make this a joint project. We (the staff)
have discussed subject areas and have come up with ideas for Tudor roleplay
- the Babington Plot, Spies, Protestants v Catholics being the favourites -
(John Charnock - brother of Robert who owned Astley was hung for his
involvement in the B Plot). If I can get funding, I will be looking for a
freelance person to train staff in the art of roleplay.
Hope someone can help - perhaps a day in July would be suitable so that we
have the summer to sort ourselves out.
Many thanks
Maria Smith
