For our 3D finite-element electromagnetic geophysical modelling codes, we
found that of Intel, Absoft and Lahey, Intel was by far the quickest for
Linux RedHat 7.1 running on 1.7 GHz P4's.
We've yet to do a comparison between the different OS's on the same box
though, and unfortunately, when we do, it'll probably be NT4 (SP6) vs RedHat
7.1 on a P3/550.
Regards,
Dave.
