Payband B. Salary: £14,218 - £18,209
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen at London's Transport Museum
for a full time Underground School Liaison Officer.
Key accountabilities are to:
* Lead guided tours of stations
* Run sessions in primary and secondary schools based around the
Underground education programme
* Deliver and implement programmes devised by the Museum education
department which are designed to encourage safe, sensible and responsible
use of LUL
* Present to a range of ages in Underground stations, schools and
community centres.
You must have previous experience of working with schools (primary or
secondary) or other educational organisations. You will have an
understanding of TfL and London Underground, as well as a good understanding
of the Museum's purpose. You will have - or be able to acquire - a good
knowledge of the history of London's public transport.
This is a high profile role, ranging from question and answer sessions for
100 six year olds to guided tours for the Mayor and other adults. To do
this, you must be committed, motivated, enthusiastic and flexible. You will
need to take public responsibility for company policies, however unpopular
and demonstrate an understanding of the current issues facing public
transport.
As an ambassador for the Museum and LUL you will have excellent
communication skills, be very articulate and able to work under own
initiative in developing new projects and activities. You will be expected
to contribute ideas to educational resources and promote them to schools and
teachers when doing presentations. It is desirable to be computer literate.
Some out of hours work may be required.
This post is offered as a secondment opportunity for nine months and your
existing terms and conditions of employment will be retained for this
period. Please note that no
appointment will be made on a secondment basis without the agreement of the
individual's employing manager. External candidates will also be considered
and be offered the post on a contract basis.
