Who's watching what you eat?
Many would have us believe that the nation's diet is going from bad to
worse. Fear about what we should and shouldn't eat seems to be growing to a
level of obsession.
But how safe is the food we eat? Should we be more concerned about the level
of artificial chemicals in the food we purchase from the supermarkets each
week rather than the latest celebrity diet?
Do consumers have a right to be kept informed about what food has been
subjected to before making it onto our plates? Can we make a difference and
how can we become effectively involved in these decision making processes?
Catherine Reynolds from the Institute of Food Research will lead an informal
discussion on current issues surrounding the safety of our food over a few
drinks at the next sciBAr.
Organised by the BA, sciBAr is open to anyone, there are no invitations and
the evening is free except for what you spend on drink or food. Air your
views or just listen to others, it's your regular pub debate just on a
larger scale.
