Dear Michael,
I did not say that Sid's post offended me.
Sid suggested that his post offended me when He wrote, "If my
assertions offend you I will desist from posting." My post quoted Sid.
Sid did not offend me, and I made no claim of offense on your behalf, either.
I asked why it was fair for Sid to challenge you in sharp debater's
terms but an imposition for me to challenge Sid.
I welcome and respect Sid's contribution - and I sometimes disagree
with his ideas.
Best regards,
Ken

Michael wrote, "I was rather surprised at Ken's posting about
offence, and had to re-read your original one in case you had
offended me but I hadn't noticed! I was not offended then or now. I
have often inadvertently given offence by my somewhat brief style of
e-mail correspondence, particularly on the list. I notice that Dick
Buchanan is always very positive in his opening remarks: "how
interesting, good point, etc." I'm too lazy to do this, so you have
my sympathy!"
