This is pretty much the case here at Sun. We have
gradually been replacing "FORTRAN 77" with "Fortran 77",
and have maintained the spelling of "Fortran 90" and
"Fortran 95". For internationalization reasons, we
do not like the spelling "Fortran 90/95" because most
internationalization guidelines frown on slashes in
names of things. Its hard to translate into some
languages.
So, as we move forward, you will see more and more
references to just "Fortran", with the upfront
assumption that "Fortran" equals "Fortran 95"
or whatever name Fortran 2000 gets. But no matter what
color it is, I'm sure it will be called "Fortran".
