Never allowed by any standard, IIRC -- in fact, prohibited -- mixed COMMON
that is, though permitted by some compiler vendors. This is WWIII material

Either "\'" or "\s" (to escape the apostrophe) seems to work for most people,
but that little whizz-bang apostrophe gives me little spam.
