What bugs me amoung other things about this is that the ASCII coding sequence
is a well defined standard already. It defines code point 10 as meaning LINE
Feed not Newline. Even C in its insularity and arrogance shies away from
totally redefining ASCII. ACHAR(10) puts a code 10 into a character nothing
more or nothing less. A Fortran defined constant for newline can put what it
likes into a character to mean a newline it may or may not be ACHAR(10)
unless by some mischance J3 decides to produce a direct potential clash with
ASCII.
