In the Glomfjord area of Northern Norway (Caledonides, amphibolite facies),
early recumbent or reclined, major and minor folds have mineral lineations
parallel to the fold axes which trend ESE in the direction of tectonic
transport. The minor folds are sometimes sheath folds and this may also be
inferred for the major folds. Asymmetric folds of different vergence are, as
usual, developed on opposite limbs of larger folds. This situation is also
observed in other parts of the Norwegian Caledonides.
