FELLOWSHIP FOR THE ANALYSIS OF NHS RESEARCH
Applications are invited for an NHS Research Fellowship of three years in
the first instance. The Fellow would join a small team led by the Director
of the Health Economics Research Group, Professor Martin Buxton, conducting
innovative research relating to the benefits from health research. The
post holder will analyse the research outputs of the NHS, using data
provided to the NHS as part of their membership of the Research Outputs
Database - a dataset of biomedical research papers developed by the
Wellcome Trust. The Fellow will produce policy-relevant information about
NHS research (including the amount, quality, and nature of the articles
resulting from the NHS and other funding sources) and will also be expected
to develop academic outputs on research evaluation.
Applications will be considered from any suitably qualified and experienced
researchers, but a background in epidemiology, statistics or bibliometrics,
or experience with research funding and management, might be particularly
appropriate. It is hoped to appoint at, or close to, spinal point 11 of
the RA.II scale - £23,256 (plus London Weighting).
