Announcing http://www.nhs.uk/depression
NHS Direct Online Theme Month for Depression
A major new web-based information resource for depressed people and their
carers. This site sets the standard for future NHS Direct Online content.
The site contains a number of user-friendly sections including:
- Evidence based treatment summaries
- What is depression? A comprehensive guide
- Interactive online diagnosis
- Overcoming your depression
- Lifestyle guide
- Bibliography (reader's guide)
- Online discussion
- Audio/video content
Produced by the Centre for Evidence Based Mental Health as part of the
National electronic Library for Mental Health ( http://www.nelmh.org )
project, this website aims to provide patients with the best available
evidence to answer their questions about depression. It is the first major
evidence-based content to be added to NHS Direct Online, as the patient
information depression section within the UK National electronic Library
for Health ( http://www.nelh.nhs.uk ).
The website will develop over the coming weeks, starting with an online
chat featuring the UK Mental Health Tzar (Professor Louis Appleby) hosted
by GMTV, which will take place on World Mental Health day (Wednesday 10th
October 2000).
