Dear Chara,
This is the first I've heard of Francis's interest in such an icon. It
would be important to research that more. Such a painting is not mentioned
in any of the early sources on Francis, such as Thomas of Celano's First and
Second Life, the Anonymous of Perugia, the Legend of the Three Companions,
etc. In checking the 6 volumes of the concordance, "Corpus des Sources
Franciscaines", I was unable to fine any reference to any Joseph.
Please let us know what you find.
