Hello Neil - You task is a huge one but interesting. Perhaps, during the
last few years of this mailing list "outres", you might save yourself much
energy by going through the archives of outres. There, I think, you will find
enough to keep you busy for some time.
Just one point on the reasonable advice already from the USA and the Simon
Priest text. As interesting as that text is it does not cover so called
"international OE" from other than one ( now familiar) perspective. If you
look under these archives you will find some history concerning that text. My
point is that there are other perspectives, of course, and that there are
different themes emerging when other perspectives are taken. Norway will look
quite different, for example, when seen from various Norwegian work/workers.
Also the Scouting movement in some old "Eastern Europe" lands takes on a
totally different face than that seen through British eyes. The work from
Australia has often a different, and I hope this remains, position with
different opportunities than is allowed from a USA evaluation. My only point
here is that the text you have been informed about is just one text from one
way. There are so many other ways.
This point is even true from within any one country. See the recent
publications from the European Institute ( see them at www.eioaee.org )
concerning the recent European Congresses.
>From Sweden today you will find many themes coming out into the open from
looking at the 4th European Congress which is held in Sweden this year. There
will be many international debates concerning "our work".
Others will have other advice to you - that is as it should be as you will
already realise.
best wishes
steve bowles
