at-Bristol
at-Bristol is a £97 million Landmark Millennium scheme,
an imaginative education and leisure destination in the heart
of the city. It focuses on science, nature and art and is due to open from
Spring 2000.
Explore and Wildscreen are key components in at-Bristol using hands-on
science and the latest in multi-media techniques in exhibitions covering
physical, life sciences and the environment. Education is core to its
mission and at-Bristol aims to reach a wide range of audiences from the very
young to the over 60s.
We are now recruiting 3 Education Officers to develop the operational
potential in three specialist areas across the at-Bristol site. The
successful candidates will be highly motivated, energetic self-starters
dedicated to developing the educational opportunities with schools and the
public. Other vacancies include Press and Public Relations Officer and
Workshop manager.

Media Education Officer
£20,000-£30,000 negotiable pro rata Ref: MED
Developing and using resources including a
digital TV studio and Planetarium for media education and science
communication activities with a wide range of age groups.

Creating, using and delivering IT based interactive learning environments

A background or strong interest in all the sciences, technical and
multimedia experience as well as working in a school, science centre or
museum environment would be an advantage for all education posts. Job share

Press and Public Relations Manager
£20,000-£22,000 pro rata Ref: MPO
at-Bristol is looking for a Press and Public Relations Manager
to develop its profile at local, regional and national levels,
as it moves into the launch programme. The Manager must have at least 5
years' directly relevant experience, demonstrable success
in handling sensitive issues, and proven ability to develop the essential
contacts in all media.

Workshop Manager
£20,000-£22,000 pro rata Ref: WKF
The workshop manager will be responsible for the team that maintains the
exhibits - which contain a mixture of mechanical, electrical, computer-based
and audio-visual components.
A rigorous preventative maintenance regime will need to be
defined, and a 365 days per year repair facility established.
The post-holder will be responsible for setting up and running
fully equipped workshops.
