24 Hour Museum 'Curriculum Navigator'
mda is embarking on a new project for the 24 Hour Museum funded
by the DFEE which will develop a 'National Curriculum Navigator' on
the internet. The Navigator will enable teachers, students and other
interested users to locate relevant materials held by museums,
galleries and cultural organisations.
We are currently looking for organisations to take part in the pilot
phase of the project. mda has just received funding for the project
and the pilot phase must be completed by the end of March 2000.
We realise that this is a very tight deadline, but it is one that is
dictated by the need for the DFEE to spend the money before the
end of the financial year. We feel that this is a wonderful
opportunity for cultural organisations to expand the availability and
relevance of their education resources to a much wider audience.
Evaluation will be built into the project for the benefit of subsequent
phases. Wherever possible existing mainstream standards will be
used to ensure interoperability. A grant of up to 500 per
participating museum will be available to offset expenses.
To take part in this initial phase or for further details please contact
