A bold statement? You puzzle me. How about this basis: "One who cares
deeply about the environment"? I would add - "and is looking for ways to
ensure its protection" - but to me many who call themselves
environmentalists are not doing that, so I won't add it. I once wrote that
environmentalists all accept three truths - that we are damaging the
environment, that it is reachiong some sort of crisis, and that the problem
needs to be solved. Where they differ is on their interpretation of the
solutions. Some accommodate humanity - some don't. Some don't think about
the knowledge required to achieve a solution. Some just place bumper
stickers on their poorly tuned combies and tut tut about "loggers".
What sort are you Emma?
I think your interpretation that I am NOT an environmentalist highlights the
issue that this list has been discussing about differentiation within
environmentalism over the last few weeks. Are you only an environmentalist
if you subscribe to certain catechisms - or perhaps if you are not a
"resource user"?
