We use common labnumbers in Biochemistry and Haematology but within Biochemistry, a Blood Gas sample would be given a different labnumber from the 'routine biochemistry' sample (which would have the same labnumber as the Full Blood Count), as would a urine, faeces etc.
As Haematology and Biochemistry produce separate report forms, any comment should be unambiguously applied to the correct sample.
