Dear zooarchs,
The Department of Archaeology, University of York, is pleased to announce
the York Seminars programme for 2004-5. This is a series of lectures given
by visiting speakers on a range of subjects pertaining to archaeology,
several with an environmental slant. This year the season will run as
follows:
Mark Gardiner
Niall Sharples
Graham Philip
Sonia O'Connor
John Robb
Sian Jones
Christine Finn
Paul Buckland
Talks will take place on alternate Wednesdays at 5.00 in K133, starting on
27th October, at the Kings Manor. All are welcome.

There is also a link fro the dep-artmental homepage.
In addition to the main programme, we are pleased to be able to put on
occasional sessions in our Special Lectures series. Dates, times, and
speakers are still to be confirmed, but we will publicise lectures as and
when details are finalised. Many speakers in this series will be from
overseas, so this series is not to be missed. Past speakers have included
Dr Amr al-Asm (University of Damascus), Dr Donna Surge (University of North
Carolina), and Dr John Clegg (University of Sydney). Several of these
lectures will have an archaeological science flavour; first up is likely to
be Peggy Ostrom. Again, all are welcome.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have further enquiries,
Yours faithfully,
Steve Ashby
