NOMINATIONS INVITED FOR ACADEMY GRADUATE STUDENT COMMITTEE
At its fall 2001 meeting the Executive Committee approved the formation of
the Medieval Academy's first Graduate Student Committee (GSC). A history of
the committee's formation and an overview of its goals were included in the
September 2001 issue of Medieval Academy News. More details are available on
the Web at http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~rganze/med-grad/index.html.
Designed to promote participation by graduate students in the Academy and
the broader academic community, the committee will comprise five graduate
students including a chair, each serving a term of one or two years in this
first instance. After the initial phase, committee members will serve
two-year terms on a rotating basis.
All graduate-student members of the Academy are encouraged to consider
serving on the committee. Those interested in serving should send a brief
statement of interest, a curriculum vitae, and the name of one reference to
Richard K. Emmerson, Executive Director, by 15 March 2002. It is best to
send the materials as an e-mail attachment to [log in to unmask], but
they may also be sent by mail to Medieval Academy, 1430 Massachusetts Ave.,
Cambridge, MA 02138.
Nominations will be considered by the Academy's Committee on Committees and
then recommended for appointment by the Council at its annual meeting in
early April 2002. The names of those selected for the committee will be
announced on the listserv after the New York annual meeting and will be
printed in the September 2002 issue of Medieval Academy News.
Candidates for committee service who have not already done so should
introduce themselves to the graduate student listserv, Med-Grad, as soon as
possible. All graduate students can benefit from joining the listserv and
participating in its discussions. To join, contact the administrator of the
Med-Grad listserv, Ron Ganze ([log in to unmask]).
