can any of the lists learned members help me with information
about the precise status, powers, etc. of missionary bishops
in the 10th -11th centuries? would such a bishop have to
be consecrated to a specific see, or is there some sort of
generic office of bishop in partibus infidelibus?
and what could be said of a bishop explicitly consecrated
to a place (Iceland) where there was, as yet, no official
see?
thanks in advance
