medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
The Hyperagias Theotokou, The Most-Holy God-Bearer, in 1144. [The
foundation document survives, at least in transcript.] Now the
dedication is tos Zoodochos Pigi, the Virgin as Source of Life. The
convent was founded where it is because a previous convent was too
convenient for attacks from pirates; this site is out of view from the
coast.
