Thanks Richard for letting us know about this. In fact, it is virtually identical
to the one that prompted me to write to the list in November. I said it then, and
I'll say it again:
The Join the Crew virus warning is a hoax. In fact, I think it's safe to say that
any and all virus warnings are hoaxes, unless they come to you directly from your
computing centre (and even then, I'd wonder!). If in any doubt, go to the
following web page for complete information on hoaxes:
http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html
In fact, I *strongly* urge you to bookmark it.
If you fail to do this, then you can always look for this message in the utterly
amazing medieval-religion archives. On the Web, go to:
http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/medieval-religion/search.html
and in the appropriate space, enter the word 'hoax' or 'virus' (or both, for that
matter), click the 'search list' button, and zippety doo dah, you'll get list of
all messages in our archives including this/these word/s. Isn't nature wonderful?
(I don't know why I said that; maybe it's a virus. :-> )
One last note: please, in future, do send any messages re fear of viruses
directly to Carolyn and me at the list owners' address, i.e.

We will then try to deal with your request as soon as possible.
