Hello Everyone who replied to my post about current Health Psychology
activities! Thank you so much for your replies. Already it has been really
interesting to see what everyone is up to.
Jo, well done on getting your job. It sounds really interesting and I do
think that we mustn't underestimate the role of mental health issues within
health psychology. Learning about mental health can provide us with an
insight into physical health and any work done with individuals experiencing
mental health problems can lead to improvements in physical health. I think
in order to work within health psychology you need a thorough understanding
of both the physical and the mental. Keep up the good work in your job!
Gareth, you have highlighted the sheer importance of experience (not just
academic success) in making it in health psychology. I think health
psychology can be applied in most work areas of societal importance, be that
social, cognitive, economic, occupational; so there is definately a role for
us and that role will become more recognised by people as the field
progresses. Like you, I am considering completing my stage 2 whilst doing
my PhD. In fact, it is something I would love to do but that I am waiting
for the right time for. So, if anyone has any feedback on this that would
be great. As far as your DHP presentation is concerned, I am sure you will
be fine. In fact, perhaps you can help coach me for some I hope to do in
the future!
Fiona, I would like to write a more personal reply to you as my research is
very in line with yours. However, I am off to work now, so I will reply
later on in the week.
Best Wishes,
Nicola Davies
P.S. Apologies to anyone who recieves this post who is not interested in
this topic. I am replying to the group though as I think it would be ashame
to miss out on hearing from others in the field of health psychology.
