Abstract: This lecture examines several visual records, from paintings, posters, to film excerpts and advertisements, and evaluates how gender politics and conflict are represented and representative of modern South Asian history. This session includes a discussion of selected photographs from the Centre of South Asian Studies archive. This talk is part of the Visual Rhetoric and modern South Asian History series, Michaelmas 2016 (http://talks.cam.ac.uk/show/index/61514).
