New for 2010 entry, the MSc in Biostatistics brings together expertise from
the School of Mathematics and the School of Community Based Medicine at the
University of Manchester to deliver an MSc course designed to give you the
opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise in both theoretical and
applied biostatistics.
Developed with the support of an Advisory Board including leading scientists
working in AstraZeneca, Pfizer and GSK, graduates of the course will be well
equipped to respond to the challenges faced by today's biostatisticians.
If you are interested in developing a career in biostatistics, this course
will provide the ideal entry platform into a broad range of employment
sectors including the pharmaceutical industry, medical research, NHS and
academia.
Applicants to the course are expected to hold at least an upper second or
equivalent undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a science
degree with a strong quantitative component.
AstraZeneca Biostatistics Scholarship
AstraZeneca are supporting the development of the MSc in Biostatistics with
two competitive scholarships, one for UK / EU nationals, with the second
award for international students. The awards will cover tuition fees and
include a contribution to living costs of around £4000. Applicants who would
like to be considered for the award are expected to have a first class
honours degree in Mathematics/Statistics or a Science degree with a strong
quantitative component, and demonstrate a high level of interest in
Biostatistics. The closing date for the award is Monday 10th May 2010.
