Academic-related Research Staff Grade 7: Salary £28,839 - £35,469 (bar) per annum
Project Title: Imputation-Based Statistical Methods for Genetic Studies of Human Complex Disease
A fixed-term MRC funded research position of 3 years' duration, is available to work in the research group of Dr Jonathan Marchini, on developing statistical methodology applicable in modern genetic studies, with specific focus on imputation-based methods. Start date for the post would ideally be as soon as possible but is open to negotiation. The well-qualified successful applicant is likely to be appointed at or near the top of the salary scale given above.
The successful applicant will work on developing and applying new imputation-based methods, with a particular focus on datasets being generated by the next-generation sequencing technologies, such as the 1000 Genome Project. The appointee will work under the direction of Dr Jonathan Marchini. Candidates should have a strong background in modern statistics and its application, or a related field. Excellent computational skills are essential and candidates should have, or expect soon to have, a doctorate. An existing background in genetics would be an advantage but candidates wishing to move into the genetics field are also encouraged to apply.
