19th January is the feast of St Wulfstan (or Wulstan), c.1008-95,
bishop of Worcester 1062-95. Canonized in 1203. After ordination as a
priest entered Worcester cathedral priory as a benedictine monk, later
becoming prior and in 1062 was the choice of Papal legates in England
to become bishop of Worcester. First English bishop known to have made
a systematic visitation of his diocese. He rebuilt his cathedral, of
which the crypt remains in somewhat altered form. His image can be seen
