A new one day workshop on how to find valuable sources of marketing
information on the Web
A subject guide to the Internet - marketing information
1 February, London
The World Wide Web is an impressive source of marketing information. No
search for information on markets or marketing activities is now complete
without at least a broad sweep of the Web. The sheer volume of information
can be overwhelming and the lack of precision can be disappointing. But
there are approaches that can be adopted in order to carry out an effective
search.
Which sources are most authoritative, most up to date, easiest to use or
most complete? Such questions are important to the busy information
professional who has the responsibility to provide an efficient and
effective information service. The workshop will address such questions and
delegates will be encouraged to discuss the sources and add their own
favourites where appropriate.
By the end of the day delegates will:
* be aware of the key Internet resources for marketing and market
research information
* have searched in key sites through a 'hands on' case study approach
* discussed the range and quality of the sources
Who will benefit from attending?
This workshop will be of interest to all those responsible for answering
marketing and marketing research enquiries in libraries or other information
units. Basic keyboarding skills are required and you will need to have some
experience using the Internet.
This workshop will be very practical, based around seven personal computers,
2 participants per terminal. In order to ensure that each delegate has
significant opportunity to search sources, the number of delegates on this
workshop will be restricted to 14.
Workshop leader: Terry Kendrick, Information Now Ltd, has been an
information and marketing consultant since 1987. He is a Chartered librarian
and a regular Internet user. He has undertaken marketing projects in
sixteen different countries for over fifty large organisations.
