It's been tried, in another context. That whole argument is essentially
medieval scholasticism, leading to the conclusion that since the
infinite regression is unacceptable there must exist a Divine Power
who intervenes before it goes too far. This presumably implies that
clinical trials are doomed from the start.
I think the key question is: does the Divine Power (under whatever
Name) respect randomisation? Think about it ...
