Dear Colleague,
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE UK TECTONIC STUDIES GROUP
This meeting (TSG2000) will take place at the University of
Manchester, Monday 10 through Wednesday 12 January 2000
(inclusive). As usual, the meeting will not have any special theme
except the presentation of research in progress across the whole
gamut of structural geology, tectonics and tectonophysics, although
sessions will be organized thematically according to the nature of
abstracts submitted. Contributions are particularly welcomed from
graduate students, and the low registration cost for students is
intended to encourage this. There will be a post-meeting field
excursion and a pre-conference workshop. On the Monday evening
there will be a wine reception and 'Curry extravaganza', and on the
Tuesday evening the conference dinner will be held. Full details
concerning abstract submission and registration can be found at the
TSG2000 web site:
http://www.man.ac.uk/Geology/tsg2000 (note: the address is
case-sensitive). Any enquiries should be directed to our email
address: [log in to unmask]
The abstract submission deadline is 29 October and the registration
deadline is 15 November. Those who submit abstracts for oral
presentations will be informed (by email) of their acceptance before
the registration deadline. Poster presentations are regarded as
equivalent to oral presentations, and it anticipated that all poster
submissions will be accepted. It will be helpful to us if abstract
submissions can be made as soon as possible prior to the deadline.
TSG posters and application forms have been sent to TSG
representatives in most universities for local distribution,
however you can also download the abstract and registration forms
from the website.
(Note that in the latest issue of 'Geoscientist' the abstract
deadline is given as 15 November. This is incorrect. The Registration
deadline is 15 November and the abstract deadline is 29 October. This
allows for people to be told that their abstract is (or not) accepted
before they have to pay out any money).
Ernie Rutter and Dan Faulkner
(apologies if you receive this message more than once!)
