The Burning Issues Group is an independent group of Public and Academic
Librarians working to improve services to lesbians, gay men and bisexuals.
The group also serves as an informal support network for lesbians, gay men
and bisexuals working in Library Services.
The Burning Issues Group have teamed up with London ASPECT at South
Bank University to present a training day about LGB Resources on the
Web. This will take place on Friday 26th November 1999, 10.00 - 4.30
Venue: London ASPECT, South Bank Technopark, 90 London Road,
London SE1 6LN
The first half of the programme will look at how the Web informs and
connects special interest groups. You will learn how to search effectively
using indexes, directories and gateways. You will also be shown how to
access forums and communities - chat, email lists and newsgroups.
The second half of the programme will look at LGB Resources on the
Web including areas such as government, legal, demographics, health,
medical and nutritional, business and commerce, leisure, travel, and
entertainment.
Libraries exist to meet the information, leisure and educational needs
of all sections of the community. This training day will reinforce ICT skills
and introduce participants to the wide range of LGB resources available
on the Web.
Cost £125.00 (£100 concessions)
A buffet lunch is included in this price
Further details and application forms (available in PDF and HTML
